A Complete Guide to V-shape Facial Sculpting with Fillers

The jawline and lower third of the face have been at the forefront of facial aesthetics. The jawline is a reflection of either youth or age, masculinity or femininity. Moreover, the jawline is that crucial transition point between the face and the neck making global balance and symmetry of this area one of the biggest concerns of patients interested in rejuvenation. At our office, there is an unparalleled collaboration of plastic surgery and aesthetics offering a wide range of options - from nonsurgical to surgical - to decrease the width of the lower face and improve the shape and balance of the face.

At Innovative Aesthetics MD, Dr. Lindsay creates a customizable treatment to address these aesthetic concerns utilizing both non-surgical and surgical options available to us. Nonsurgical lifting and contouring can be achieved with fillers using an approach of facial balancing. PDO threads are available to lift the skin and create volume in select patients. Kybella can be used under the chin to eliminate small pockets of fat and show a more defined jawline. Wrinkles and fine lines are best treated with our advanced HALO laser using a combination of ablative and nonablative wavelengths in a single treatment session. There is no one perfect template that works for every patient and every face type. Let us guide you on the journey to your particular goals, and set up a treatment plan today.

Challenge 1: Face that has a square appearance

Routine neurotoxin, such as Dysport, to the cheek muscles, or masseters, would gradually shrink them in size. Kybella, liposuction, skin tightening devices can reduce the volume in the lower 1/3 of the face, both for men and women.

Challenge 2: Male or female patient in his/her 50s with jowling and sagging along the jawline

A facelift could be the best option for jawline sagging and jowling; however, filler such as Restylane or Juvederm, can be used to augment areas to achieve harmonious face contouring and jawline tightening. This is commonly referred to as the snatched jawline. It creates or enhances the strong, defined masculine jawline and can camouflage a prejowl sulcus with sagging jowl tissue.

Challenge 3: A young male in his 20s with a small, receding jawline wants to look more masculine and defined

We commonly start with filler at the jaw angles to both widen and sharpen the angles. Filler is then placed in the chin area at precise locations to attain a strong look and bring out a recessed chin to a more desirable profile.

Facial balancing is a process and can involve multiple modalities over time to achieve the best results. Taking care of one issue, while ignoring the rest of the face, is not going to give you the best outcome and can even make things worse.

The first step is to book a consultation and begin your journey today.
