Help! My hands look OLD!

Updated: Jul 29

The skin on your hands is often exposed to UV rays and vulnerable to the same aging process as the rest of our bodies. Over time, the backs of the hands develop discolorations and age spots, wrinkles, crepey skin, and loss of fat. No one wants BONY HANDS.

HOW TO PREVENT "old hands"

To prevent future damage, smooth on a dime-size drop of lotion with SPF, or spritz hands with a quick-drying SPF spray every day before heading outside. For special occasions, try a tinted SPF powder to hide imperfections and protect. Treat existing spots with a lightening cream that has natural brighteners like vitamin C. Exfoliate the skin on your hands regularly. Use leftover face products from your skincare regimen to rub into the backs of your hands for 30-45 seconds. Daily treatment with a chemical exfoliant, tretinoin, and sunscreen can keep your hands looking their best and helps stave off the aging process.

What can we do at Innovative Aesthetics MD in Winston-Salem?

1. Add prescription tretinoin and growth factor serums

2. Filler!! Hyperdilute Radiesse or Sculptra works wonders for filling in lost volume in between the phalanges and smoothing the appearance of wrinkles and volume loss on the hands.

3. An in-office laser treatment ($250 to $500 per session) works for flat brown spots with clear borders. For lots of brown or red spots, an Intense Pulsed Light (IPL or Sciton BBL) ($400 to $600 per treatment) is a good bet. Or there's the profractional laser availabe in Winston-Salem to take off the top few microns of surface layer and repair damage from aging ($1,200 to $1,500 per treatment),

BOTTOM LINE: Book an appointment for some combination of skincare, SPF, filler, and laser treatment to keep your hands looking MODEL beautiful!!
